Children’s Teeth

At Castle Hill, we’re passionate about good oral health for all the family. Anxiety about visiting the dentist can often start as a child, and the best way to avoid it is to get your children used to visiting the dentist on a regular basis from an early age, not only meaning any potential dental health issues can be spotted and prevented from spreading, but also so that a trip to the dentist becomes a relaxed, normal activity. Your child will soon start to think of the dentist as a friendly face, and visits will be something to look forward to.

You should take your child for their first dental check-up when their first milk teeth come through. This will get them used to not just the dentist, but the process of opening their mouth to let the dentist look inside. The dentist also will also be able to check the teeth are developing properly.

Should your child require any further dental treatment at any time, we will fully discuss what treatment they need. NHS treatment for under 18s is free and we also offer private children’s dentistry.

Children from the age of three upwards will be offered fluoride varnish, which strengthens the tooth enamel and helps prevent decay. Once the adult teeth start to develop, fissure sealants may be applied to the back teeth to help prevent decay.

Treatments for children include:
